AIR LIQUIDE GABOA

· Air Liquide set up in Gabon in 1954, at Port-Gentil, as a depot supplied from Pointe Noire. In Libreville the group’s interests are represented by the C.C.D.G. (S.C.O.A Group).  

 
· 1960: To ensure better control of the distribution of their products, Air Liquide  took over the Libreville depot that had been run by CCDG.  
 
· In 1963, at Président Léon MBA’s request (First President of the Republic of Gabon), the Air Liquide group decided to build it’s first factory to produce Oxygen and Acetylene at Port-Gentil. At the same time a subsidiary was created : GABOA (Société Gabonaise d’Oxygène et d’Acétylène) (Gabonese Oxygen and Acetylene Company), with  its headquarters at Port-Gentil.  
The factory at Owendo (Libreville) was built in 1972 with two production units: Oxygen and Acetylene.  
 
· 1976: Management transferred to Libreville, Glass Area.  
 
· 1979: Following the petrol boom in the 70s, a pressing need for Liquid Nitrogen became evident by petrol operators.   This favoured the beginning of the building of a Liquid Nitrogen unit to satisfy this need.   
 
· 1999-2000: Creation and installation of a Diving Gas Mixture Centre at Port-Gentil.
Building of a CO2 refilling centre at Owendo.  
 
· 2000-2001: Installation  of a liquid oxygen unit  at Libreville (Owendo)(with a 220 litres per hour capacity.) Setting up of Diving Gas Mixture Centre at Port-Gentil. 
 
· 2004: Argon refilling centre set up at Port-Gentil.
 
· In 2006, AIR LIQUIDE GABOA deployed a Industrial Management System (IMS) aiming at securing operational safety and reliability.   The IMS project is based on staff skills and the implementation of procedures covering industrial operations.
 
· AIR LIQUIDE GABOA covers Gabon, and the Guinea Gulf countries.
 
· It has 57 employees.
